Do you use Job Boards?!

ok this posting is going to be logged under rants for sure!

I just realized today that I had never cancelled my eLance membership, I haven’t used them for months and I definitely was not getting the amount of work that justifies having a membership. Since I have been paying for the membership for the last few months (most of a year actually), I thought I could troll the jobs and see if I could pick up a quick job to cover the costs of the membership.

That is when I realized how brutal things have gotten…. 10 page websites for $50, full WordPress templates with jQuery sliders and a custom design $40. $40 are you kidding me?

I know I shouldn’t be picking on eLance as they are just one of many job boards offering similar services (Guru, Odesk etc…), but do they ever monitor their job postings? I mean it seems to me if a company really wanted to stick out in this field, they could do it rather easily. Monitor or test your providers and then make all job postings meet a mandatory budget. Simple, you get the best providers because they know they aren’t going to be asked to build ebay for $50 and the employers get the best providers…

I mean am I missing something here? I know everybody wants something for nothing, but the fact is not everybody is willing to do something for nothing.

So this is what I am wondering, do you use Job Boards to regularly get work? And are you from North America?
